Description

Completely new edit of my SADR Region Sii, Ha and Oiii data using the amazing 'SHO Normalization' Pixelmath process released into the Public Domain by Bill Blanshan. This Pixinsight process basically takes each filter channel and 'normalizes' it to the same background intensity so that when it is combined in the 'Hubble' SHO format you get a true representation of the data gathered at each gas wavelength. I did no colour adjustments whatsoever in this image, the only things I altered were the RGB/K curve, saturation level and then boosted the clarity in Photoshop. Stars were removed before completing this process and had a colour boost after being added back. Noise reduction was completed after all editing was completed.
In this image the Supergiant Star Gamma Cygni 'SADR' dominates the sky whilst Messier 29 the small, bright open cluster of stars just south of the central bright star can be seen mid right at the edge of the picture. Interestingly, M29 was discovered by Charles Messier in 1764, and can be seen from Earth using binoculars.
